Though Rokas dreamed of becoming an archaeologist when he was growing up, his career track to the computing world was born when he started writing Pascal programs and coding IRC chatbots to impress the girls at school. He went on to get his Master of Science degree in Software Engineering, and worked for a bevy of tech companies before coming aboard with Devbridge, where he looks forward to making an impact in development and research by building applications based on React and other modern frameworks and architecture.
Rokas’s top recommended websites include Stackoverflow, which lets you find quick answers, discussions and references for further research; Hackernews, a news aggregator on topics that appeal to the tech geeks out there, along with interesting commentary; and Changelog, which he says keeps the pulse of the open-source world. If he wasn’t working as a software engineer, Rokas would love to be a military officer and take part in strategic planning and foreign operations.
Outside of work, Rokas’s favorite book is Milan Kundera’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being, and his favorite movies include Embrace of the Serpent and The Salt of the Earth. If he could have any superpower, it would be the ability to read other people’s minds, and he loves to eat Asian cuisine, with the occasional burger thrown in.
